Couples seek you out for many reasons. If engaged or moving in together, they're probably excited about the future but concerned about issues that may stand in the way of the life they've envisioned. Couples who are married or in a committed partnership may already be struggling with issues and looking for ways to move forward. As a therapist working with couples in a variety of stages, you're able to highlight the reasons partners have chosen each other while addressing the differences that cause tension in the relationship.
Practically Married was created to support your work by providing a framework for couples to have important conversations, negotiate compromises, and set goals together. The program provides a structured yet flexible process for revealing a couple's strengths, challenges, and possible future stumbling blocks. Using this information you'll be able to focus appointment time on helping partners better understand each other and on developing effective strategies for managing their differences.
Guide couples through exploring essential relationship topics!
Practically Married consists of 10 modules addressing the central subjects couples face including money, sex, in-laws and careers. Each module has a set of worksheets for couples to complete together. Some modules such as Communication & Conflict, Money and Children require each partner to complete a self-assessment before working through questions as a couple.
The worksheets contain an extensive set of questions. Some will highlight relationship strengths while others may challenge partners to reveal uncomfortable truths. The prompts are designed to lead to greater disclosure and understanding, with the goal of a shared vision for the couple's life together.

StartPre-Cohabitation Program Conclusion
"As a couples therapist who works with pre-marital and long-term couples, Practically Married is a game-changer. It’s a done-for-you system that professionally outlines key topics that need to be addressed. I love the ability to use the system as-is or pick-and-choose certain modules for easy customization.
Practically Married introduces the topics and allows me to choose where to go deeper. It is perfect for pre-marital couples but also effective for couples with a lot of history who haven't had foundational conversations. Couples find it very clear and approachable. Whether you're new to couples work or a more seasoned professional looking to save time and have more tools in your toolbox, the investment of Practically Married is returned in one session and the value is infinite."

"Practically Married has been an invaluable tool for the couples in my practice. Whether it’s a desire to learn more about themselves and their partner, dismantling fears about marriage or improving communication, Practically Married provides a framework for couples to approach these hard-to-navigate yet essential conversations in an attainable way.
In addition to witnessing pre-marital benefits, I’ve seen positive results using the Sex module with married couples looking to expand their sexual dialogue. The thoughtful questions allowed a vulnerable topic to be addressed openly in a way that felt productive to the couple.”

Expand your practice with a method that is structured yet flexible!
Some couples seek counseling before getting engaged, while others may wait until six months before their wedding. With Practically Married, you can address a couple's needs based on their timeframe, the frequency of your appointments together, and the pace they are able to move through important conversations. The design of the program lets you determine which modules to cover in sessions, what topics the couple can discuss on their own, and in what order you want to address the various subjects.
If you don't currently provide premarital counseling, Practically Married paves the way for you to grow your practice by adding this service to your offerings. Additionally, since the language on our worksheets is inclusive (no gendered pronouns, use of "partner" instead of "fiancé," etc.), the program can be used with LGBTQ+ and straight couples who are pre-cohabitating, premarital, and newly married.

"The worksheets in this program are thorough and thoughtful, full of reflective questions, and covering all the topics that often get overlooked (or intentionally ignored!) before marriage. As a Marriage and Family Therapist who works with couples, I would highly recommend Practically Married!"

I'm excited to offer therapists this simple yet effective program to help couples improve their relationships!
While developing Practically Married, I consulted therapists and tested the program's modules with numerous couples to get a keen understanding of the needs of clinicians and their clients. To deepen my knowledge, I trained to facilitate The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work, Bringing Baby Home, Prepare/Enrich®, Couple Communication,™ and joined the AAMFT to gain access to its wealth of information. I've also studied a variety of highly regarded resources on relationships and the specific subjects in the program including money, sex, in-laws and the transition to parenthood.
Prior to my work in this field, I earned an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and graduated from Stanford University.
